The biggest Chihuahua you ever saw

Reba thinks she is a Chihuahua. She somehow managed to fit into their bed. And she is mad at mommy and daddy because the Chihuahuas have sweaters now that it is cold and she doesn't!

A note from Minnie

Hey Minnie here. I can’t believe it has been a year since I found my mom and dad. Boy was I lucky my mom got me because I wasn’t living in a very good home. The lady that got me thought it would be cute and fun to get a puppy. She didn’t realize how much work puppies are. So I didn’t have a great life with her…won’t go into details because I just try to focus on the good things in my life now. Like my dad…he is my favorite! I follow him everywhere. And I love to take naps with him on the weekend.

I really do love my mom and dad and sisters but I don’t like anyone else coming over. My parents say I embarrass them but I just want things the way they are. I am really scared of new things so I bark like crazy. I get to sleep in a mansion full of soft blankets. I love it. Angel tries to go in there sometimes but I fuss at her. I also love to play with toys but my big sister Reba tears them up so fast that mom and dad have to throw them away. And she always wants my small toys even though she is huge. She thinks she is a Chihuahua like me.  Um Reba have you looked in a mirror?

About my sisters…

Lola-she is my size but black. She doesn’t like to play so I get real close to her and stare at her. I poke her and try to get her moving but it doesn’t work. She does get mad though and chase me. I love that.

Angel-she wouldn’t even acknowledge me for 6 months but after much persistence on my part she finally started playing with me. She only does it sometimes but it is fun. We like to chase each other. Mom says she is really old so I have to be easy with her.

Missy-she is white just like me and loves me so much. I am her favorite. We play a lot but we both get super crazy so we can’t play too long.

Reba-she is my big protector. No one can fuss at me without Reba barking at them, that includes mom and dad. She plays with me too but mom makes her lay down to play. She lets me climb all over her which is fun. If she would stop destroying toys we would have a ton to play with. They bought expensive toys last weekend that were supposed to last and Reba tore them up in two days!

Please send toys grandma...mom and dad have bought all of the ones Walmart had.

Feeling sweet

Missy was being super sweet and cuddling with the Chihuahuas yesterday...not sure what got into her but luckily we have pictures. Missy does let Minnie get away with a lot more than the rest of them, that is her little buddy.

Meet Magnolia

First I want to let everyone know the posts have been sparse because I am so busy at work. Also, we lost Patty a month or so ago. We believe it was a heart attack. She was old, especially for a bloodhound, and she passed away quickly in Patrick's arms.

Last week I walked into work and my coworker said he had to show me something. I was really praying it was a bird's nest as he opened the back door. Of course not! It was this poor dog curled up in our pine straw shaking. Our building is down a dead end road and next to the highway. Not sure how she got here but I do know that she was terrified, cold and hungry. She jumped when I first petted her. But as I talked to her she became more at ease and even gave me a kiss. She loves to kiss. I brought her inside and text my husband a picture. His response was NO. But she was skin and bones and covered in ticks. I called him and convinced him and off the vet we went. Poor thing passed out asleep in my truck. She didn't have a micro chip so I had them give her shots. Again on the way home she passed out asleep.

Since Patty's death, Huffy has been by himself and not very happy. So we slowly introduced him to Magnolia and boy was he happy!!!!!!!!!!!! She was tired and uneasy the first day but when I went to see here the next day she was jumping on me and giving me more kisses. She is the sweetest girl. We think she has a lot of pit bull in her. I don't know where she came from but I am so thankful she found me.

Play time on the couch

The girls love the couch...as  you can see it was pretty old and worn out from them. We finally got a new one that is leather. They don't really like it but will sit on it. Of course they will cause they are way too spoiled to sit on the floor or a dog bed!

Little Angels

NOT! Just a rare moment of them being good.

Missy and Angel

Awhile back we were having a lot of issues with Missy bullying Angel. That was a big reason Missy went to obedience classes. They aren't best friends but look here..........

Still can't believe this

Angel has never played and has always been fine being by herself. I never, ever thought I would see her play. But after 6 months of Minnie driving her crazy, Angel loves to play with Minnie. They are best buds now. A lot of times Angel instigates the play. I think it is great. It makes me smile because Angel is getting up there in age and just seeing her chase Minnie is fun to watch. Minnie loves her, and loves her long hair. She is always nibbling on her. And Angel lets her!

It is tiresome being the baby

And terrorizing her sisters all day.........

We are buddies....when we both want the same thing!

When we first got Minnie, her and Lola were big buddies. They would play and loved each other. Now not so much. We think it is because they are both very jealous, Minnie is really jealous of everyone. So Lola ignores her and Minnie only bugs her sometimes. But when they both want to sleep on the heating pad, they put their differences aside and snuggle.

Busted!

I was getting ready one morning and heard a bunch of noise. I really thought it was just Minnie and Angel playing. I looked down the hall and saw this..........

That would be Minnie and our bath mat for the guest room.

Reba

Reba wasn't feeling good when we woke up Sunday. You could tell she was in a lot of pain and was throwing up water when she drank-not a good sign. So Monday she went to the vet. She had something in her stomach but the vet thought she would pass it on her own. She wasn't any better Tuesday so Wednesday morning I took her again. Not long after I got to work our vet called to tell us Reba needed surgery. We finally got to pick her up this weekend and she is much better. We are very careful with her because she loves blankets and towels but she did eat part of a blanket somehow.
First picture is the blanket, she ate about a foot long, inch wide piece of the border. Second picture is what the vet got out of her. Lesson learned, no matter how careful you are, you can always be more careful. We are just thankful that she and PaPa are home from the hospitals.

Things Minnie has taught me...

We really didn't need another dog but something in my heart told me we needed to get Minnie. All of our dogs have taught me a lot so I wanted to share with you the things Minnie has taught me. I will be honest, there were times I didn't know if we did the right thing by getting her, she has been the craziest puppy I have ever had but she has given us so much also.

1. Patience. Minnie has a lot of patience most of the time. She knows if she waits long enough Lola will get off the heating pad and she can get on it. She also knows if she doesn't come in from outside and waits she will eventually hear "treat" and she come flying. She has us trained pretty well.

2. Persistence. Everyday for 6 months I watched Minnie bark and fuss at Angel. She would have a fit but Angel would just lay there or occasionally snap at her. Then one day it happened-Angel played with her!!!! Now they are best friends.

3. Grateful. Minnie has taught me to be grateful for the little things. She is so happy to have a leaf or stick. She will play all day with those.

4. Be silly. I will be the first to admit I am way to serious and focused. Minnie is so silly and I can't help but be silly with her. She really has gotten me to loosen up. The other day her and I were dancing in the kitchen and we play all of the time.

5. Size doesn't matter. Minnie is 7 pounds and Reba is 70 pounds. If Reba makes Minnie mad she lets her know. She isn't scared or intimidated.

6. Always say I love you. Minnie loves to give hugs and kisses. And she gets so excited when she sees us first thing in the morning or in the afternoon after work. Heck I can go do something for half an hour and come back and she is ecstatic. She always says I love you.

7. If you are tired and grumpy take a nap. Minnie will go to our bedroom door and hit it. Then she will go in, get into bed, cover herself and sleep for a few hours.

8. Forgiveness. It would of been so easy for Minnie to be mad at humans because of the way she was treated. But she isn't. She let it go and moved on. She hasn't hung on to the past and lives everyday to it's fullest.
